Grade 3 human body science
Grade 3 Five Senses Word Search
Our senses help us gather information about the world. This printable reviews sight, smell, hearing, taste, touch, and familiar sense organs, then encourages children to separate careful observations from guesses.

Use the words before and after the puzzle
Before solving, ask your child to circle unfamiliar words in the list. Afterward, choose three words to explain, draw, or use in a science sentence. Open the printable PDF below when you are ready.
What children can practice
- Connect each of the five senses with a related body part.
- Record observations using specific descriptive language.
- Explain how more than one sense can provide evidence about an object.
For parents and homeschool
Describe a mystery object
Place a safe, familiar object in a bag. Do not use food, sharp items, allergens, or anything that should not be handled.
- Step 1
Without looking, let your child describe only safe touch and sound observations.
- Step 2
Reveal the object and add sight observations.
- Step 3
Compare the evidence with the original guess and identify which clues were most useful.
Also useful for teachers
A quick classroom adaptation
Use sealed or teacher-selected objects for a short observation station. Students should record evidence by sense, make a claim about the object, and explain which observation best supports it.
Questions to talk about
- Which observations were facts and which were guesses?
- Which sense gave the most useful information?
- How did combining senses improve your explanation?
